The "Green" Season in Costa Rica

In Costa Rica we don’t have the four seasons of Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter, we just have two seasons, The Dry Season and The Rainy Season. Lately you have probably heard The Rainy Season referred to as the Green Season and you think, what a scam, Costa Rica is just trying to promote tourism during their low season when it rains. I used to think this as well, but since living in Costa Rica I have learned that the Green Season really is the best season to be here, all the locals seem to look forward to the Rainy Season where it is bright and sunny during the day, storming in the afternoon and refreshingly cool at night. Also our biggest attraction in Jaco, surfing, is at its best during this season, the swells are bigger and the wind is calmer, it really is a surfer’s paradise.

The Unpredictable Eruptions of Arenal

On Monday morning there were eruptions coming from the Arenal Volcano in Northern Costa Rica and the park had to be closed to visitors, however once the eruptions calmed down in the afternoon they re-opened it again. They continue telling the public that these eruptions are completely normal and that they do not mean there are more dangerous events to come. However after our recent Earthquake here in Costa Rica, we are reminded we cannot predict nature and probably should not even attempt to do so.

The Excellent Adventures of Jaco Beach

Many publications seem to think that Jaco is only known for our nightlife scene. Untrue, we have surfing, golfing, boating, fishing, diving, tennis, horse riding, hiking, canopy tours, and much more. We also have excellent grocery stores and restaurants. However they are right in some aspects, Jaco does have some of the best nightlife in Costa Rica. Lately with May days in full effect I have frequented Le Loft and Ladies Night at The Backyard on Wednesdays. There definitely is a lot to do in this little town!

Condo Craze

Condos are what’s happening and selling. Many of them are being sold completed at pre- construction prices. In a foreign area, they provide security and maintenance a property needs. In Jaco you can get beautiful 2 bedroom condos starting at $130,000 (see photos) to 3 bedrooms on the beach for $350,000. They are easy to rent as vacation rentals and an investment that will appreciate as time goes on.
